Art, Music & Theatre Creativity "Fax" Grants A Success
Community Foundation Awards Fax Grants to Local Organizations

The Community Foundation of Boone County recently awarded over $8,800.00 in grants to the arts community. There was an overwhelming response to the art, music & theatre creativity fax grants. Non-profits and public school teachers, pre-K through grade 12 in Boone County were given the opportunity to receive a $300 grant to enhance the arts in the community. The purpose of this granting initiative was to enhance the availability of the performing and visual arts in Boone County through music, theatre, dance, & visual arts. The goal was to allow teachers and non-profits to become creative without being hindered by cost.
The following is a list of recipients and the program or project the funds were used for:
- Adams Elementary School - hand drums
- Boone County Child Dvlpmt. Academy - puppet stand & puppets
- Boone County YMCA - sound system with speakers & microphone
- Boone County Community Band - sheet music for concerts
- Center Stage Theatre - follow spot spotlight & stand
- Central Elementary School - books, videos & visuals for art library
- Central Elementary School - neck straps, recorders & accessories and music & resource kits
- Granville Wells Elementary - Voice Works reader's theater booklets & tabletop puppet theater
- Granville Wells Elementary - Chinese temple blocks, wind chimes on stand, flexatone
- Harney Elementary School - digital camera for art class
- Hattie B. Stokes Elementary - visual art videos for classroom & art library
- Hattie B. Stokes Elementary - various kids drums
- Lebanon Area Boys & Girls Club - costuming for the Lebanon Follies
- LHS - riser & legs for choir performances
- PVUE - costumes for drama clubs
- PVUE - pretuned tubanos & hand drums
- Presbyterian Preschool ministry - peek-a-boo parachute, bean bags, & mini shelf sound system
- Sheridan High School - digital camcorder & external DVD burner
- Sheridan High School - digital voice recorders for band & choir
- Sugar Creek Art Center - chairs for classes & storage bins for art supplies
- Thorntown Public Library - concrete bench by Mills Memorial fountain
- Union Elementary School - various drums & instrument posters
- Union Elementary School - costumes for drama club
- Western Boone High School - misc. supplies for integrating art & music into a journal of literacy responses
- Western Boone High School - instrument microphones & cables for recording machine for band
- Zion Nature Center - children's nature costumes
- Zionsville West Middle School - complete classroom book set of jazz ensemble music
- ZCHS - cameras for art
- ZCHS - Pottery plaster, clay, scraper tools, sheeting, paint for art project
- ZMS - digital camera for art work for on line art gallery
- ZUMC: Childrens Learning Network - sandblocks, rhythm sticks, drums, bean bags
This Arts Fax grant initiative was made possible through a field of interest endowment fund for the Arts, established at the Community Foundation by the Back to the Fifties Festival, Inc. and the Zionsville Kiwanis Club. Additional grant dollars were also made available from the Community Endowment unrestricted fund.
