Art, Music & Theatre Creativity "Fax" Grants A Success

The Community Foundation of Boone County recently awarded over $7,500 in grants to the arts community. There was an overwhelming response to the first ever art, music & theatre creativity fax grants. Not for profits and public school teachers grades K-12 in Boone County were given the opportunity to receive a $300 grant to enhance the arts in the community. The grant funds were available on a first come first serve basis beginning October 1. The purpose of this granting initiative was to enhance the availability of the performing and visual arts in Boone County through music, theatre, dance, & visual arts. The goal was to allow teachers or not for profits to become creative without being hindered by cost.

The following is a list of recipients and the program or project the funds were used for:

Perry-Worth Elementary School	Kids Can Drum: various types of drums
Tri-Area Library	Collapsible stage for skits
Zionsville Middle School	Just for Guys-1^st vocal workshop
Western Boone Jr. Sr. High School	Start an 8^th grade coffee house
Perry-Worth Elementary School	Personal student portfolios
Granville Wells Elementary School	Puppetry
Lebanon High School	Recording package for computer
Granville Wells Elementary School	Authentic African drums for music
Zionsville Middle School	Keyboard for students to compose music & transfer into musical notation
Thorntown Elementary School	Nutcracker performance & books
Hattie B. Stokes Elementary School	Early childhood symphony kit
Central Elementary School	Create a permanent ceramic tile mosaic at school
Zionsville Middle School	Develop a solo & ensemble sheet music library
Eagle Elementary School	Funds toward drying rack for art projects
Harney Elementary School	Fun with Boomwackers: pre-tuned plastic tubes
Hattie B.Stokes Elementary school	Create a permanent ceramic tile mosaic at school
Granville Wells Elementary School	Practical art supplies
Zionsville High School	3 portable CD burners
Lebanon Educational Foundation	Misc. costuming & accessories for the Follies
Munce Art Center	Instructional books, videos, periodicals targeted at teaching art to children
Thorntown Public Library	A used piano
Sheridan High School	Stand lights for pit orchestra/band concerts
Mad Hatter Dream Machine	Wireless head microphones for performances
Boone County Community Band	Music for concert band & jazz ensemble
Lebanon Public Library	Portable wireless PA system
Lebanon High School	Equipment for yearbook & newspaper

This Arts Fax Grant initiative was made possible through a field of interest endowment fund for the Arts, established at the Community Foundation by the Back to the 50’s Festival and the Zionsville Kiwanis Club.
