The Community Foundation of Boone County's Board of Directors toured the newly opened Jamestown Press on September 16. The board was amazed at what had taken place within the last couple of years. They had toured the facility originally in 2001 after the Jackson Township Historical Society purchased the building from Melvin L. Hiller.

The Foundation gave the historical society a grant in 2001 to help them toward their goal of turning the facility into a museum for all to enjoy. A handicapped accessible bathroom and some window film to preserve the displays were funded. The organization including many volunteers began renovating the building. Now a museum interpreting the history of newspaper printing business and many artifacts from the Jackson Township community are housed there.

Jackson Township Historical Society has worked to preserve the press for many generations to come. Contact www.countyhistory.com/jths for hours of operation and how to arrange for tours or contact Marilyn Kernodle, President at 765-676-5114. Check out what outstanding opportunity is in Boone County.
