Background

Established By: Carl Witt, a life-long resident of Boone County. He worked on a family farm for 20 years and was an active school board member. One recipient from each Boone County high school is chosen annually to receive this award.

Requirements / Selection Criteria

Residency: Boone County, Indiana and a citizen of the United States of America
Diploma: Lebanon High School, Western Boone Jr. Sr. High School, Zionsville Community School
Enrollment: Any 4 year accredited* public or private college or university in the state of Indiana
*(Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.)
Specialized Study: Major in agriculture or business (preferred but not mandatory)
Special Characteristics: Good moral character (as supported by statement from principal)
Special Preference: No
Financial Need: Yes—Provide a completed College Cost Estimator and Boone County release form (PDF 388K) in a sealed envelope and return it to the guidance department.
GPA: Between 2.0 and 3.0 GPA (4.0 system)

  5. College Cost Estimator and Boone County release form (PDF 388K) in sealed envelope.

  • Format: Typed, double-spaced
  • Length: One, short paragraph
Student to provide a one paragraph essay explaining why they feel they are in need of financial assistance.
