Background

Established By: The family of Steve Ledvina. Steve had a heart for those who have disabilities and who truly believed in giving back to the community. He loved being with his special needs son and his friends. Steve was a supporter of Best Buddies and Special Olympics and was active in his community until he lost his life to cancer.

Residency: Boone County, Indiana
Diploma: Zionsville Community High School
Enrollment: Any accredited* public or private college or university
*(Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.)
Specialized Study: No
Special Characteristics: Applicants must be active with other students who have special needs by being involved in the Best Buddies club, Special Olympics, Peer Facilitators or peer mentoring programs and also is a volunteer within the community.
Special Preference: No
Financial Need: No
Minimum GPA: 3.0 (4.0 system)

  1. Community Foundation Scholarship Application Form (PDF 128K) [Note: this application form can be filled out on-screen using the Adobe Acrobat Reader software and then printed.]
  2. High School transcript including SAT/ACT scores
  3. One letter of recommendation. To be completed by a person you have helped who has a disability. This reference form can be written with assistance, if needed. Please answer the following question: Why would you recommend this student for scholarship assistance? Give us three (3) examples of this candidates strengths.
  4. Essay

Note: Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Essay to Include:
  1. How do you feel you have made a difference in the lives of people who have special needs?
  2. Typed, double spaced.
  3. Maximum Length: one page.
