Background

Established By: Friends and family of Pete Paddock. Mr. Paddock was a teacher and administrator in the Zionsville Schools for 38 years. This scholarship was established as an addition to the athletic scholarship established by Zionsville High School in appreciation of Mr. Paddock for his decades of service and support of the Zionsville Community Schools and Mr. Paddock’s love of music and belief that the Performing Arts programs were also an important part of education.

Residency: Boone County, Indiana
Diploma: Zionsville Community High School
Enrollment: Any accredited* public or private college or university
*(Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.)
Specialized Study: No
Special Characteristics: Senior performing arts student involved in Band, Orchestra or Choir at Zionsville Community High School who displays the positive spirit Mr. Paddock exemplified. These qualities include: Strength of Character, Integrity, Attitude, Work Ethic, Community Involvement and Sportsmanship
Special Preference: To be awarded to one performing arts student
Financial Need: No
Minimum GPA: No (but GPA impacts evaluation between candidates)
Written Essay: Yes (see attached specifics)

Finalist Interview: No

Application to Include:
  1. Charles Paddock Scholarship Application Form/Recommendation Form (PDF 104K) [Note: this application form can be filled out on-screen using the Adobe Acrobat Reader software and then printed.]
  2. Two letters of recommendation - cannot be from a family member, (i.e., teacher, advisor, coach, minister, service group leader, employer) attesting to applicant’s integrity, work ethic, attitude, strength of character community involvement and sportsmanship (Note: the recommendation form is page 5 of the application form above, and it can be filled out on-screen using the Adobe Acrobat Reader software and then printed)
  3. High School transcript including SAT/ACT score(s)
  4. Essay

Note: Incomplete applications will not be considered.

Essay to Include: One page essay single spaced that describes yourself and how you have displayed the positive spirit and qualities of character, integrity, attitude, work ethic, community involvement in your school, community, musical and athletic involvements.
Selection By: The Charles “Pete” Paddock Scholarship Selection Committee; approved by the Board of Trustees of the Community Foundation of Boone County.
