Requirements / Selection Criteria

Residency: Boone County, Indiana
Diploma: Any graduating high school senior who has been an active member of the Boone County 4-H program for the last three (3) years of 4-H eligibility.
Enrollment: Any accredited* public or private college or university
*(Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.)
Specialized Study: No
Special Characteristics:
  • Active involvement in 4-H for last three years of eligibility.
  • Possessing good leadership potential and desirable personal and citizenship qualities.
  • Involvement in school and community activities.
  • Academic record and career goals.
Special Preference: Given to student active for at least two years in 4-H Horse & Pony, Horseless Horsemen, Swine, Photography, Computers, Gift Wrapping, Cake Decorating, Junior Leaders or Shooting Sports projects.

Given to junior member of the Fair Board or 4-H Council or a student who has been an assistant to a Fair Board Member (assisting with fair setup, barns, etc.)

Financial Need: Considered, but not necessary (tie-breaker only)
Minimum GPA: 2.5 (4.0 system)
Written Essay: Yes (see specifics below)

Finalist Interview: Possible

Award Received

Tuition & Fees: $425 (amount awarded in 2006-2007)
Method: Check made out to the student and given to him/her at the award's night at the school.
