Background

Established For:	Mabel and Eugene Higgins in memory of Mabel's parents William S. and Emma Washburn. It is designed to assist Indiana students studying agriculture, home economics or pre-medicine. In 2001, Mabel passed away at the age of 97. She established this scholarship prior to her death as she wished to see some of her wealth be spent while she was alive to enjoy it and to make an impact well into the future.

Enrollment:	Any accredited* public or private Indiana college or university *(Accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.)
Specialized Study:	Agriculture, home economics or pre-medicine (or their successor departments)
Special Characteristics:	No

Financial Need:	No
Minimum GPA:	2.5 (4.0 system)
