The Community Foundation of Boone County's "Aaron Stookey Spirit of Philanthropy" Award was presented to Steve Snider of Zionsville, during a Zionsville Lions Club dinner. Yearly this award is given at the Boone County Chamber of Commerce banquet but since Steve would not be in town, it was given earlier.
This award is given annually to honor an individual or organization for their lifetime commitment to local charities and people in need, setting a positive example for others by their leadership, volunteerism, and financial support.
Kathleen McClanahan-Gruhl said in describing Steve, "He does "Gods' work" as if everyone he encounters is an "angel" and is keeping score... He and his company, The Snider Group, have helped in the revitalization of Zionsville Lions Park, the renovation of Whitestown Lions Park, providing excavation and other services with the relocation of Zionsville United Methodist Church and has provided great assistance to the Town of Zionsville. He has been quiet, yet unassuming, giving and supporting a wide number of projects. He is someone who has always gone above and beyond. "Steve has helped civic minded organizations achieve the impossible" said Linda Guthrie, vice president of Zionsville Lions Club.
The Spirit of Philanthropy award has been given annually since 1995 as part of The Community Foundation's mission to promote philanthropy in Boone County. The award included a commemorative plaque for Steve, as well as his name on a continual plaque to be displayed at the Community Foundation of Boone County's office, and a nominal cash award to be made in his name to his charity of choice.
