Boone County Cancer Society in Partnership with Witham Health Services, $5,000
Witham Health Services and the Boone County Cancer Society’s philosophy is “once a cancer patient, always a cancer patient” and The Community Foundation is pleased to grant $5,000 to this partnership to support local cancer patients and their caregivers.
This project will provide more than 60 programs for cancer patients and their caregivers throughout 2016. Both organizations’ qualified clinicians and facilitators will conduct patient and caregiver support groups, education sessions, wellness classes, and much more.
Each program within this project will start with a patient/caregiver social planning meeting. Promotion for all of the programs will be mailed out in early January 2016 to ensure all patients and caregivers are aware of what will be offered starting the same month.
From January 2016 on, the planned schedule of programs will be as follows:
- Bi-weekly patient support group
- Bi-weekly caregiver support group
- Monthly nutrition class
- Social events for patients, caregivers, and families at least once per quarter
- Weekly yoga class for cancer patients and caregivers
